Like everywhere else, it’s getting harder to find pay phones away from airports and train stations. Fortunately, there’s little of the vandalism aimed at North American pay phones.
How much time your ¥10 gets you depends on distance. For local calls, it’s one minute—or portion thereof. (Subscriber lines get three minutes.)
This model takes ¥100 coins, but does not give change.
It also accepts prepaid cards—a decades-old (1982) solution to the problem of collecting all those ¥10 coins.
According to the Japanese Wikipedia article:
• This model is the MC-3PNC for both stands (here) and phone booths. It’s connected to an analog line.
• These card telephones debuted in December 1982.
• Their yellow predecessors, which accepted ¥100 coins, but not cards, debuted in 1972.
• Their digital (ISDN) successors are grey. I’ve only ever seen them in and around train stations. I assume because they’re much more expensive. Maybe when the green ones wear out…

To be honest it is very hard to find a card that has my specifications. The specifications are:
calling from USA to Vietnam(Cell),China(Cell),Japan(Cell),and South Korea(Cell)
On SAME card
NO prepaid cell cards needed
NO connection, surcharge, maitainence, more than 1 minute rounding fees
10 cents or less per minute to each country(recommended)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
